When we are playing blackjack, of course there are hands which favor us or which have more favorable probabilities and other hands which are always against us. One of those cases is when we have 16 points made up of a pair of 8 when the dealer or croupier has a high card on the table.
That is why if we have two cards with the number 8, we will have to split the cards.
The system for counting cards is one of the most popular known by players. The system is known as the system of counting by points. It basically consists of giving a value of 0, +1 and -1 to each card dealt at the table, including all players and the dealer.
Knowing that each card has a value, the value of Aces and 10 point cards is -1, the value of numbers 7, 8 and 9 is 0 and the rest is +1. The higher the count, the bigger the percentage of cards with 10 points that are in the deck so there is an advantage for the player.
The rules in the card game of blackjack state that the player should reach the number of twenty-one points as close as possible. And that statement is enough to understand what the game means. Since, as we can see, we are often far from that ideal score and obtaining some unexpected success.
In the end, the only thing that counts is to exceed the bank’s hand. We should add more than the bank or at least 18 points whereas the bank will stand with a value of less than 17, or, we should stand with a low value and trust that the bank exceeds twenty-one points. Whoever exceeds twenty-one will automatically lose. Then, if the bank exceeds that value and we don’t, we will win.
